The natives Dusun Tindal here in Kelawat, Kota Belud call the bird Ku-kur  or Spotted dove (Streptopelia chinensis). This bird is a common neighbour and often seen around us. While used to the presence of human around, they'll fly away when you're as close as 10 feet. Sometimes you'll see them picking up grains from a padi farm. Nesting on trees, coconut trees, between banana fruit bunches. You often see them resting and looking for foods around houses. You'll see many near rice fields especially at harvest time. )

Some times you'll find them doing their morning stretching.

These pictures are Ku-kur or Spotted dove (Streptopelia chinensis) doing few reps of stretching routine. (Ku-kur ini buat senaman pagi.)

Sometime you'll see them grooming too like these... (Kemudian bersolek)

Some neighbours have a quiet living but some are noisy. Sometime you'll hear them chattering noisily with its kinds when they found out that there squirrel around. This Mom-po-rok in Native Dusun Tindal of Kelawat, Kota Belud or Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) noisly anouncing that it has caught a meal.
This neighbour got a healthy snack, a beetle kind or maybe a type of blackberry.

A Mom-po-rok or Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) got an insect for a morning meal.

Normally at harvest time, in the village, if you are still somewhere in the middle of or just near a large rice field, you'll often see them in group of many, just before the sun set, over your head, going back home to the far end bushes to roost. (Burung Mom-po-rok banyak kelihatan terbang rendah, di sebelah senja, di kawasan sawah padi di kampung, balik ke pokok-pokok kayu di hujung sawah untuk tidur.)

Usually a Mom-po-rok would disturb or perform a teasing swoop to this bushy tail guy Plantain Squirrel (Callosciurus notatus) whenever the two are within sight and closer to each other. Natives Dusun Tindal of Kelawat, Kota Belud called this squirrel as Bo-sing. (Burung Momporok biasanya mengacau Tu-pai apabila mereka berdekatan ataupun burung Mom-po-rok nampak Bo-sing di sekitarnya.)
